Shop Secondhand

If you are going to shop, purchasing or finding items secondhand is a great way to reduce your impact. You're helping by reusing items, which saves them from potentially being thrown in a landfill (which is a likely possibility if they ended up not selling).

Save money by buying used items. Sometimes you can even find brand new items at great discounts - just from shopping secondhand!

Shopping secondhand & local not only saves resources by reducing the need to produce new items, but it also can save transportation emissions and additional packaging from being created.

During these economically hard times, supporting local businesses is more important than ever. Buying from small businesses is necessary if we don't want every block filled with corporate chains.

There are so many cool, timeless items you can only find secondhand - they aren't in stores today!

If buying older or vintage items, you may find items of higher quality that aren't made anymore. You can find durable products that have lasted for years and will continue to work.

Some thrift stores are also nonprofits or charities (e.g., The Salvation Army) so you are supporting good organizations rather than profit-hungry corporations.

Secondhand just means "had a previous owner"- you can find items brand new, barely used or in excellent condition.
